About 100 works made by students from six artistic education institutions were displayed at the residence of the Ambassador of Poland in Chisinau within the exhibition and contest “Jan Alojzy Matejko” in the evening of February 17, IPN reports.
Vasile Sitari, pro-dean of the Faculty of Plastic Arts of the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts, said the students showcased their talents in four categories: painting, graphics, decorative art and sculpture. “We started from one category, but extended the categories in time, while the theme was free. Everyone could exhibit their best works. Being at its fourth edition, the students are waiting impatiently for this contest. For them, this experience it is very important and we hope we will enjoy the same support in the future,” he stated.
The pro-dean noted that the number of participants increased significantly compared with the first edition and the contest became a possibility for the students to know each other and gain experience in taking part in exhibitions. Each exhibit has a catalogue that contains the awarded works.
The Top Prize in painting was conferred on Madalina Casian, in graphics on Catalin Sandu, in decorative arts on Elena Caraus, while in sculpture on Pavel Obreja. The second and third prizes went to: Carmen Craciun and Xenia Dermenji (painting), Sorina Ursu and Valeria Moghildea (graphics), Andrei Shcaterman and Aliona Arama (decorative arts) and Alexei Vidrashko and Sergey Crijanovski (sculpture).
In parallel with the exhibition and contest “Jan Alojzy Matejko”, there was held the piano contest “Ignacy Jan Paderewski”. The winners of this contest - Elizaveta Coroli, Bogdana Grecova and Nicoleta Conderea – gave a recital of classical piano music.
Poland’s Ambassador to Moldova Artur Michalski said that each year, owing to the exhibition and contest, members and friends of the embassy can admire the beauty of the exhibits and thanked the participants for this possibility. He noted that at the beginning of summer, his mission in Moldova will end and he thanked the students who take part in the contest for their artistic adventure, wishing them interior freedom, personal growth and development and prosperity, noting that a part of his hear will definitely remain in Moldova.
