Employees of the cardboard company “Moldcarton” and the Glodeni-based sugar factory are protesting in front of the Government. After almost three years since they started to stage protests, the workers of the two companies have the same demand – to be paid the overdue salaries of 2009 for about half a year, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We ask the authorities to intervene so that we are paid salaries and the law is obeyed in Moldova,” said Gheorghe Rusu, chairman of the trade union committee of “Moldcarton”. The salary arrears to the workers total about 2 million lei. Even if they won the case in court, they cannot get their pays because the former employees cannot be found. The employees of the Glodeni sugar factory face the same problem. They said they haven’t received the salaries for July - November 2009, when the workers were made redundant. The protesters said that legal cases were opened against members of the trade unions because they tried to defend the rights of the employees. The protests involving about 100 persons will be continued at the Prosecutor’s Office and at the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family.
