The women are less involved in the process of taking out loans because they lack information. At the same time, the procedure for obtaining a loan for starting a business and the conditions imposed by banks scare a part of the potential clients. For the same reasons, the women use lending services seldom and with reserve, considers Galina Vasilita, specialist of a commercial bank operating in Chisinau municipality, IPN reports.
Galina Vasilita told a news conference that the procedures for obtaining a loan are not so complicated, but the lack of knowledge how to prepare the necessary documents creates artificial impediments. The problem can be solved by staging seminars for businesswomen and women who want to start a business, where to train them how apply for a bank loan.
Another problem mentioned by Galina Vasilita is the fact that the persons who want to start a business do not use assessment and consultancy services to find out efficient methods for developing the business and avoiding risks. Another impediment faced by women is the outdated perception that the women are unable to manage and develop own businesses. Galina Vasilita assured that there is no discrimination on the grounds of gender in the banking system as regards access to financial resources. Moreover, the banks trust the women more because they are more responsible and repay the loans conscientiously.
Nina Orlova, program coordinator at the Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau, said that more discussions are now held about bank policies at Governmental level and in the banking sector so as to make them friendlier towards the potential clients. There are considered possibilities of simplifying the procedure for obtaining bank loans and of giving entrepreneurship training to persons who want to start a business.
