A 35-year-old woman from Crasanesti village of Telenesti district and her four children whom she maintains remained without a home after the 37-year-old partner of the woman, who is the father of two of the children, allegedly set fire to the house where they lived.
Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Telenesti Police Inspectorates Diana Maxim said the man abused alcohol and was often aggressive. He earlier did community service for use of violence. The last time the police issued him with a protective order that banned him from approaching the woman for a period.
According to Diana Maxim, the man lived at his relatives in the village and on July 9 went to visit the woman’s sister and his partner was also there. As a result of a conflict with the woman, the man left annoyed. The house soon started to burn and the man is suspected of arson. No one was hurt, but the house burned to the ground.
The suspect hasn’t been yet found. He faces a jail term.
Another house fire occurred in Crihana Veche village of Cahul district on July 10. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the fire was caused by a gas cylinder that was inside the kitchen. The flames engulfed an area of 21 square meters, destroying the kitchen and partially affecting the anteroom. No one was injured.
