A woman from Chisinau is suspected to have thrown a neighbor’s child from the second floor. The incident happened on Tuesday evening, August 2, on the Negristeni street of the Capital. The 4 year old girl survived, but was hospitalized, Ghenadie Cuciuc, public relations specialist of the General Police Commissariat, told Info-Prim Neo.
Witnesses told the police that they heard cries and saw the suspect holding the child by her legs, then letting her fall. According to the initial investigation, the woman visited her neighbor and had a few glasses of alcohol. She then took one of the neighbor’s girls with her to show the child her cat.
The suspect denies to have thrown the child. She claims that she was working in the house when she saw the girl window sill. She tried to grab her, but the girl fell off.
Nicolae Starciuc, director of “V. Ignatenco” municipal hospital, told Info-Prim Neo that the girl suffered brain damage and a concussion, but is out of harm’s way. The doctors are analyzing for further internal damage.
The suspect is in custody, and will be prosecuted for murder attempt. If she is found guilty, she risks being jailed for 7-20 years or even a life sentence.
