A woman, convicted of traffic of influence over prosecutors and judges, fled the courtroom before being handcuffed. The court sentenced her to 6 years in prison and confiscated the sum of 1 million lei, obtained by committing the crime, IPN reports.
According to prosecutors, the criminal case was started in May 2022, based on a complaint. The woman was denounced by the wife of a man who was charged and the defendant asked for almost 1 million lei from him, claiming that she could influence the judges to set him free.
During the trial, which lasted for one year and seven months, the convict pleaded not guilty.
In addition to the prison sentence and confiscation of the money, the court maintained the seizure of the woman's property and ordered the confiscation of a mobile phone, recognized as corpus delicti.
