A 20 year old woman was left without her money and jewelry after accepting a fortune-telling offer from two Roma women. Ghenadie Cuciuc, public relations specialist of the General Police Commissariat, told Info-Prim Neo that the suspects, a 36 year old from Hancesti and a 40 year old from Straseni, had a criminal record, being previously investigated for similar crimes. The investigation found that the two of them were walking near the hospital when they saw the young woman and offered to predict her future and help her get rid of problems. For this, they asked her money and gold earrings, telling her they would return them half an hour later, and then were gone. The suspects were arrested shortly. The police recovered the woman’s money and earrings. The two gypsies are accused of swindling, but are investigated at large as one is the mother of two underage kids, while the other has 6. If they are found guilty, the women risk a fine between 500 and 1000 penalty units or 2 to 6 years in jail The police encourage people to report such cases at 27-22-57 or 902.
