Woman probed for trafficking children

A 49-year-old woman from Chisinau is probed for taking children out of the country with false documents, Info-Prim Neo reports. The search establishes the suspect has made an affair consisting in transporting children to their parents working in Spain and Italy. She used to ask for her service from 4 to 8 thousand euros for every child, depending on the destination country. According to the police, from January to March, 2008, the suspect illegally took out of the country two minors aged 7 and 16 from Orhei town. The children were taken to Moscow, accompanied by an adult. But suddenly the children realized something was not well and decided to escape. They got on a train and returned to Moldova, the police say. The inquest in this respect is based on art.207 of the Moldovan Penal Code “Illegally taking out children from the country”. If found guilty of committing the infraction, the woman may be jailed from 7 to 12 years.
