Woman liable to seven years in jail for perjury

The Prosecutor’s Office of Chisinau’s Botanica district sent a case instituted against a woman over perjury to court, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office. According to prosecutors, the woman lied under oath while heard as a witness in a case. “Unfortunately, the people ignore the law and make false statements when asked by certain persons. As a result, the accused or the witness stand trial,” the General Prosecutor’s Office says in a communiqué. The woman faces fine of 4,000 to 16,000 lei or imprisonment of 2 to 7 years.
