Woman injured by hit-and-run driver

A 44-year-old woman from Oliscani village of Soldanesti district died after she was struck by a vehicle. The driver stopped, placed the victim under a tree and left the place of the accident, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the accident happened near the woman’s native village Oliscani. The body was found the second day. The culprit was caught in several days. The 27-year-old man admitted his guilt. The Ministry’s statistics show that 51 hit-and-run accidents occurred in Moldova this year. Fourteen persons have died. As many as 46 drivers were identified and held accountable. The police call on the drivers involved in accidents not to leave the place of the accident, but immediately call the police and an ambulance because leaving the place often entails serious consequences for drivers and other traffic participants.
