The number of victims of the explosion that occurred in an apartment building in Râșcani district of Chisinau on October 6 rose to five. The woman who was in a serious state in the hospital died in the evening of October 16.
Press officer of the Emergency Medicine Institute Cristina Gorea has told IPN that the 32-year-old patient died at about 6:30pm as a result of cardiac arrest, despite doctors’ efforts to save her.
The woman was admitted to the hospital in a serious state, being diagnosed with polytrauma, hand and leg burns and pelvic fractures. The evening she was hospitalized she underwent surgery to have her fractures stabilized and was later transferred to the Intensive Care Section. Throughout the hospitalization period, the doctors supervised the patient, giving her qualified medical assistance, including by cooperation with specialists of the Chisinau Burns Center.
The apartment building blast claimed the lives of four more persons, namely a 30-year-old woman and her son aged four and a married man and woman both aged 77. Several persons, among whom a fireman, needed medical care.
