A woman was sentenced to 10 years in jail after murdering her husband in complicity with her lover. The woman confessed to the crime committed back in 2008 in a village in Râșcani district, the Special Cases Prosecution Service said.
Back in 2008, the spouses, both 38, started renovating their home after the husband returned from abroad. A fight broke out among them on the night of the crime, and the woman phoned her lover, who was living in the neighboring village. They killed the man and buried his body beside a river. The body was unearthed five years later by the couple’s son, after he found out about the crime.
When the relatives alerted the police about the man’s absence from home, the woman lied to them them that her husband had been kidnapped by “bandits” who told her she would be in trouble if she talked. She later fled but was eventually detained, with the case referred to the Special Cases Prosecution Service in March 2022. The sentenced woman’s lover is still on the run.
The sentence can be appealed.
