A woman from Chisinau died when she was hit by a falling tree on Vasile Lupu St in Buiucani district on June 14. Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Adrian Jovmir said the 40-year-old woman was passing through a courtyard and was struck by a tree downed by the strong wind.
“The woman probably didn’t manage to step away when she saw the falling tree. She was crushed to death,” stated Adrian Jovmir. The supply of electricity was disconnected in the area so that the fallen tree could be removed.
Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said a similar case happened on Columna St in Chisinau. A tree fell onto two vehicles, but the three persons who were inside weren’t hurt.
