A woman who abandoned her newborn child in a bag near a bus station was given a one-year suspended sentence, IPN reports.

According to prosecutors, the woman, who is from Criuleni, gave birth to the child at home in November 2009. It was her fifth child. The baby was found by passersby, who called the police.

The police discovered the identity of the woman. When questioned by prosecutors, she admitted her guilt.

The woman is 36. In 2012 she gave birth to the sixth child. The child abandoned in 2009 was adopted.
