Woman aged 33 arrested for human trafficking

A 33-year-old Moldovan woman was arrested on suspicion that she was trafficking in human beings. The police suspect that she headed a criminal group that was recruiting Moldovan young women for prostituting themselves in the United Arab Emirates, IPN reports.

As a result of a search at the woman’s home, the police found documents and pictures of young women and a copybook with records of the money earned by criminal ways.

During the investigation, it was established that the woman worked together with a foreign citizen aged 35 and other accomplices from the UAE. The group was founded four years ago. After the victims were recruited, members of the group organized their illegal migration to the Emirates through Ukraine. When at the destination, the girls were met by other members and dispossessed of documents. A part of the recruited young women, being threatened and abused psychologically, were forced to have sex for money in the municipality of Chisinau as well.

Six victims have been identified so far. The police continue the investigation to find all the victims and to arrest all the accomplices.

Two criminal cases were started over trafficking in human beings in this case. The main suspect will be under arrest for 30 days initially.
