A pack of wolves attacked cows in a number of households in Tsybuleuca village of Dubasari district in the Transnistrian region. According to Novyi Reghion Agency, quoted by IPN, the wolves managed to kill and eat a cow weighing about 200 kg, who was grazing near the village. Another cow managed to run away.

Transnistria’s senior veterinarian Andrei Vacarciuc said the remains of the killed animal were buried before a test for rabies could be done and they cannot say if the cow was infected. The other animals will be supervised so as to discover the disease in time.

According to Andrei Vacarciuc, the wolves migrate from Ukraine and, when they reach the Nistru River, can stroll for several days through villages nearby. The vet recommended the parents not to leave the children unsupervised.

The senior veterinarian is also concerned about the high number of wild boars in the region.
