Without the last two laws Moldova can be kept away from liberalized visa regime

Moldova is ready to shift to the second stage of implementing the Action Plan on the Liberalization of the Visa Regime with the EU. According to experts of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) “Viitorul”, the Moldovan Parliament must adopt the antidiscrimination law and the law on the reform of the Anticorruption Center next week at the latest for the issues to be included in the agenda of the June meeting of the European Union – Moldova Cooperation Council. After presenting the developments during the last six months, IDIS expert Leonid Litra said that Moldova should adopt the two laws so that no EU member state opposes the decision to switch to the second stage of implementing the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization. “Within the first stage, there is adopted only the legal framework. All the requirements of the EU were met and there is no reason for regarding the two laws that are to be passed as an obstacle to achieving this objective,” Leonid Litra stated for Info-Prim Neo. He also said that Moldovan society will only benefit from such a move, including from visa-tree trips in the EU and from a wide reform of the justice sector. The switchover to the second stage of implementing the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization is a priority underlined by Prime Minister Vlad Filat when rendering the Government’s report in Parliament on April 27.
