The authorities prepared a set of measures to reduce electrical energy consumption. Among these is the disconnection of fountains, shop windows and advertising, decorative and architectural lighting, except for the lighting of the emblem of entities working round-the-clock. Also the escalators will be turned off between 7am and 11am and between 6pm and 11pm. Given the risk of power supply interruption at rush hour, it is recommended not using the elevator between 7am and 11am and between 6pm and 11pm so as to avoid getting stuck in this, IPN reports.
The measures are stipulated in a draft order agreed by the Commission for Exceptional Situations. The document says the managers of apartment buildings and other blocks that have elevators will place notices nearby warning to avoid using the elevator in the rush hour. Also, the managers of public and commercial buildings will ensure, including by posting instructions and informative materials, the functioning of heating systems in a minimum regime or at an appropriate temperature but not higher than 19 degrees Celsius.
The use of internal lighting systems in buildings is to be reduced by at least 30% where it is possible. These systems will have to be disconnected when the buildings remain empty.
The enterprises with energy-consuming production process (electric ovens, electric arc welding machines, electric melting installations) are to organize the working program so that the processes when the largest part of electrical energy is used are performed outside the 7am-11am and 6pm-11pm periods.
The managers of water supply and sewerage companies are to regulate the functioning of pumps in accumulation lakes so as to reduce the use of electricity to a minimum in the aforementioned periods, by maximally realizing the potential of accumulation lakes.
The order also refers to the central and local public authorities. These are to take measures to reduce electric energy consumption, primarily at rush hour,, but without affecting the safety and health of citizens or the functioning of essential services. Street lighting is to be disconnected during the day (not later than 30 minutes after the sunrise and not earlier than 30 minutes before the sunset).
