Winter-weather conditions on roads in Moldova

On January 11 and on the night of January 12, rescuers dealt with almost 40 cases of releasing and towing away of blocked motor vehicles. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, there are no impassable roads at present, but they travel in winter-weather conditions on the roads, IPN reports.

Employees of the Inspectorate helped people in difficulty in a number of districts. As many as 445 rescuers and firefighters and 141 units of transport were involved in rescue operations. In the evening of January 11, the administration of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, in concert with subdivisions of the Ministry of Defense, patrolled 11 national roads and also regional roads to help vehicles that got stuck.

Following the heavy snowfalls of January 11, 14 localities in five districts were partially disconnected from the power supply. But all of these were reconnected to the supply by 9pm.

The cell crisis created at the General Inspectorate for Emergencies will continue to monitor the situation in the country. In emergencies, the citizens should call 112.

The yellow code advisory for difficult metrological conditions expired last night. Temperatures of -6 ...-11 degrees Celsius were forecast for the night of January 13. Daytime temperatures on January 13 will oscillate between -1 and -5 degrees Celsius. Next week the temperatures will rise to +4 degrees Celsius in southern Moldova.
