It involved children’s ensembles Lollipops, Do-Re-Mi-Show and “3 amici”, singers Ludmila Balan, Iurie Sadovnic, Diana Brescan, Tatiana Heghea, Georgeta Voinovan, Cristina Pintilie, Catharsis, Guz, Alexandru Manciu, and Maria Iliut, and the bands “Crenguta de iedera” and “Plaiesii”.

Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca congratulated the people who came together in the central square of the capital city on the first winter day and on Romania’s National Day. He noted that the inauguration of the Christmas tree in the Great National Assembly Square became a tradition already.

After the national anthem of Romania was sung by a group of students from Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca said that he does not know if he will be attend the inauguration of the winter holidays on December 1 next year because local elections are to take place next summer, but this festive moment – the singing of Romania’s anthem in the central square of Chisinau – means that the mission for now was accomplished, but it should be continued.

The Christmas tree this year is about 20 meters in height. It was offered gratis by a municipal company. The fir tree was decorated with over 1,000 red and silver baubles and over 2 kilometers of festoons.
