The International Women’s Club of Moldova, which brings together wives of ambassadors and stars from culture and arts, has staged the 17th Annual Winter Charity Bazaar 2013 at Mold Expo. The proceeds will go to boarding schools and children in hospitals, IPN reports.
The bazaar involved representatives of all the embassies working in Moldova, who exhibited foods and beverages traditional in their countries, handmade toys, books, souvenirs, and clothing items. The representative of the Embassy of Turkey Banu Kartal said there is no great difference between the current bazaar and the previous ones, except for the appearance of cosmetics and wine products.
“The event is organized within the winter holidays and is intended for all the persons in need. I call on the people to make purchases at the bazaar so as to bring joys on the faces of the children who do not have a family and are deprived of the holiday atmosphere,” said First Lady Margareta Timofti.
Last year there was raised US$42,000, which was donated to children’s homes and socially deprived families, said the minister of defense’s wife Maria Marinuta, who is a member of the International Women’s Club of Moldova.
A sum of US$200,000 has been collected during all the previous Winter Bazaars.
