Mihail Formuzal and Vasile Panciuc were designated as ‘regional leaders of the year’, Valeriu Frumusachi and Ivan Sveatchenko were named as ‘journalists of the year’, while Mihail Lupasco and Nicolai Savostin received the prize “Personality of the Year” in publicism and literature.
On December 4, the public association “Personality” named the winners of the prizes “Personality of the Year” and “Personality of the Country”. The association’s head Serghei Evstratiev said the awardees were selected based on surveys, IPN reports.
The association “Personality” announces the laureates of the prize “Personality of the Year” the second consecutive year. This year, the prize went to academician Stanislav Groppa in medicine. Chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry Gheorghe Cucu received the prize in economy, Olympic champion Tudor Casapu – in sport, while the chairman of the Afghan War Veteran Mihai Mocanu took the prize ‘for honor and dignity’.
Arcadie Suceveanu, chairman of the Writers Union, was designed as the “Personality of the Year” in literature, the editor-in-chief of the publication “Saptamana” Viorel Mihail in journalism. Politician Boris Gamurari won the prize in the category ‘statesman’, while bank president Victor Turcan received the prize in the category ‘finances’. The director of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Moldova Valeri Rybitski won the prize in the category ‘Moldova’s friend from abroad’.
Rector of the Academy of Economic Studies, one of the last year laureates of the “Personality of the Year” prize, took part in the award ceremony, saying he would like this initiative to become a tradition.
Arcadie Suceveanu said that we live in a period that witnesses a confusion of values and it is very hard to separate water from land. “I’m glad that the association “Personality” aims to rehabilitate the values. I think we should keep the cultural bridges not to destroy them,” he stated.
Among the last year laureates of the prize “Personality of the Country” were Ion Ababii, Alexandru Grecu, Mihail Muntean, Spiridon Vangheli, Vsevolod Cernei, Anatolie Golea, Mihail Volontir, and former Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel.
