Winners of “Government’s Football Cup 2015” watched Moldova-Russia fixture from stands

The students who won the “Government’s Football Cup 2015” watched the encounter between Moldova and Russia from the stands. The invitation to the match was issued by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet. Thus, the young footballers from Balti, accompanied by their coach, were special invitees to the match played at the Zimbru stadium in Chisinau in the evening of October 9, IPN reports.

The winners of the big trophy of the “Government’s Football Cup 2015” were transported to Chisinau with the assistance of the Moldovan Football Federation that offered them tricolor scarves and other promotional objects representing the national team. The Premier wanted to reward the footballers in a special way as he could not attend the award ceremony because he was in the United States on a visit.

The champions team consists of students aged between 13 and 14. These study at the Balti Lyceum “Vasile Alecsandri”. The teens confessed that the possibility of watching the game from the stands was one of the few things that they wanted in reward for their merits in football.

The national football team of Moldova suffered a 1-2 defeat to Russia’s squad, which took thus revenge for the 1-1 tie scored last year in Moscow. Moldova remains only with two points and cannot already avoid the last place in the group. On October 12, Moldova meets Sweden away, in the last match of the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
