The National Wine Day this year will take place in the Great National Assembly Square, not at the Exhibitions Center “Moldexpo” as the previous years. The novelty will be that the wines will be served together with food, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov told the journalists, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The event will be organized in a different way. We want it to be more civilized and better organized as the previous years it was a disaster,” said the minister. The holiday will be opened on October 7 in the evening and will continue on October 8 and 9. On October 8, there will be launched the national brand “Vin Moldova” (“Moldova Wine”) that will be put on bottles of wine whose quality will be guaranteed by the state and by which the Moldovan wines will be promoted.
Vasile Bumacov said there will be tasting events on October 9. “On Sunday, I will invite my colleagues – ministers and deputy ministers – to present the wine served with our national food and show how the traditional dishes can be combined with wine. We want to get rid of the tradition when they drink a bucket of wine and eat garlic and bacon,” he stated. He promised the wine will be tasted only from glass tumblers, not plastic containers.
The minister also said that the event will be organized with money from the state budget. “Unfortunately, such events in the world are staged by travel companies. But we, as Ministry and Government, assumed this responsibility in order to help them. We hope that the travel companies in several years will be more powerful,” he stressed.
The event will involve about 40 companies.
The first National Wine Day was celebrated in 2002. Until 2009, it was held in the Great National Assembly Square, but then was moved to “Moldexpo”.
