The imposed anti-epidemic measures, such as the wearing of masks, maintaining of social distancing and hand hygiene, remain valid in the case of vaccinated persons.

“Even if a person got both of the vaccine doses, this is not fully protected from the virus. As the population hadn’t been fully vaccinated and we didn’t reach a rate of 60-70%, all the restrictions remain in force. The maintaining of social distancing, wearing of masks, washing and disinfection of hands, ventilation of rooms are mandatory,” coordinator of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign Ninel Revenco stated for IPN.

The possibility of lifting the restrictions derives from the realities in other countries. For example, a football match with spectators was held in the open air in the UK this week. The citizens of Israel already walk on the streets without masks, while Paris reopened its terraces.

“When we have a higher percentage of vaccinated persons, we will be able to stay inside or outside without masks. A high vaccination percentage means over 60-70% of the population,” said Ninel Revenco. The figure is expected to be reached in November 2021.

Over 264,000 Moldovans have been vaccinated so far as part of the immunization campaign launched on March 2. This is under 7% of the eligible population.
