The new ambassador of the Russian Federation to Moldova Oleg Ozerov has the diplomatic rank of envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the second class. Before his appointment, he served as ambassador-at-large and head of the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum since May 2020, IPN reports.
Oleg Ozerov was born in 1958. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and has been working in the diplomatic service since 1981. He held several positions within the central apparatus of the Russian Foreign Ministry, was on missions in such countries as Syria, Tunisia, and France.
From 2001 to 2005, he served as senior adviser, head of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In April 2005, he was appointed deputy director of the Middle East and North Africa Department. In February 2010, he was named Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and since May 2020 – ambassador-at-large and head of the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
He speaks French, Arabic and English.
Oleg Ozerov on Tuesday was appointed Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. He replaces Oleg Vasnetsov, who had held the post since 2018.
