White ballots cancelled

The paper ballots for the village, commune, town, city and municipality mayors will not be white, as it was previously decided, but purple. The Central Election Commission (CEC) approved on Wednesday, May 16 the decision regarding this change.
According to CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan, the change was due to the low security level of the white paper ballots.
In the elections to be held on June 3, the ballots for the Chisinau mayor will be light green. The ballots for the election of village, commune, town, city, municipal ballots will be coloured in blue. For the raion councils, the ballots will be beige.
The ballots will be divided in quadrilaterals (16.5 cm length and 2.5 cm width), the number of which will depend on the number of electoral candidates. The ballots will be 17.5 cm wide.
The symbols of the candidates will be placed on the left side of the quadrilateral, in a square with the side of 1.5 cm. The name of the candidate will be written in the centre. A circle with the diameter of 1.5 cm will be placed on the right side of the ballot, where the voter will apply the stamp “voted”. The distance between quadrilaterals will constitute 0.25 cm.
The ballots will be printed in Romania and Russia.
