While the country’s authorities, ministers and the allies of the ruling party celebrated the 1917 October Bolshevik revolution in Chisinau, in Rome 1900 years since the end of the Dacian-Roman wars were celebrated, an event that effected the ancestors of the Bassarabian Romanians. According to the Romanian press, the commemorative manifestation was housed by the Accademia di Romania in Rome and was organized by the Cultural League for International Unity of Romanians. The event was supported by the Rome City Hall, which sent its representatives to this event. The manifestation was also attended by personalities from Rome and Italy – Romanian Ambassador to Italy, Cristian Valentin Colteanu, Mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni, director of the Accademiei di Romania in Rome, Dan Eugen Pineta, numerous members of the Romanian Academy, Romanian artists and musicians. Traian’s victory over the Dacians and the transformation of their territories into Roman provinces is, according to historians, the beginning of a lengthy process which resulted in the creation of the Romanian nationality, the sole Latin nation from Eastern Europe.
