“What happens around us is horrible and deplorable. We stay in Chisinau and think that we live in a mess, but the situation outside the capital city is much more deplorable. We throw litter everywhere and do not even want to help with the cleanup,” said Daniela Cibotari coordinator of the cleanup campaign “Come on, Moldova”. She called on the people to get involved in the campaign that will take place on April 16.
On March 16, participants in the project staged a flashmob meeting in the Great National Assembly Square to draw attention to the enormous quantities of garbage that accumulated in the country and to urge the people to help remove them on the National Cleaning Day marked on April 16.
The meeting involved volunteers from over 20 districts. They told the passersby about the importance of taking part in the cleanup activities in their own settlements and informed them that those who want can join the April 16 cleanup campaign through the website www.haimoldova.md and can submit proposals for making the cleaning process more efficient.
Several dozens of NGOs, five universities, seven schools, and a number of state institutions have become involved in the cleanup activities so far. The Chisinau City Hall, 20 districts, five TV channels, seven radio stations and 35 private companies confirmed their participation in the campaign.
