Weightlifter Tudor Bratu becomes junior world champion

Tudor Bratu is the first Moldovan weightlifter who won a gold medal at the IWF Junior World Championships, IPN reports.

He competed in the 89 kg weight class and won gold in snatch after lifting 155 kg. In clean and jerk, the Moldovan athlete ranked first after lifting 191 kg. With a total of 346 kg, Bratu became junior world champion.

Tudor Bratu is the second representative of Moldova who medalled at the 2021 IWF Junior World Championships held in Tashkent. Several days earlier, Teodora-Luminița Hîncu won bronze in the 45 kg class. Moldova’s Artiom Gritsenko is to enter the competition in the 109 kg class on May 30.
