Weightlifter Marin Robu finished eighth at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The 21-year-old athlete lifted a total of 330 kg in the 73 kg class, IPN reports.

In snatch, Marin ranked third, but in clean and jerk he had two failed attempts. “I sincerely hoped to obtain a better place. Three days before the contest, I suffered a back injury and my participation was uncertain. I had massage and acupuncture during two days. In snatch, I coped and ranked third, but in clean and jerk I had very serious pain. If I hadn’t suffered an injury, I think I could have won a medal,” said Marin Robu.

Today, Moldovan swimmer Tatiana Salcuțan will compete in 200 m backstroke. At the Youth Olympic Games of 2018, she won gold in this event.
