Weightlifter Artiom Pipa wins bronze at world champs

Moldova's Artiom Pipa won a bronze medal at the World Junior Weightlifting Championships that are held in Bulgaria's capital Sofia. Last year, he also won a bronze, Info-Prim Neo reports. Artiom Pipa, 17, lifted 117 kilograms in snatch and 149 kilogram in clean and jerk. With a total result of 266 kg, the Moldovan weightlifter ranked third. Seventeen athletes competed in his weight category (62 kg). Two more Moldovan weightlifters are to perform in the champs - Sergiu Sichir (69 kg) and Gheorghe Cernei (85 kg). The Ministry of Youth and Sport spent 68,000 lei on the national team's trip to the competition. Last year, the World Junior Weightlifting Championships took place in Thailand.
