The Center for Human Rights of Moldova is holding the children’s rights promotion week with the slogan “Different but Equal”. The activities will be carried out until June 2, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Center, ombudspersons will have meetings with the children. On May 30, the head of the Center’s Representative Office in Comrat Svetlana Mironova will organize activities for 40 children at the Society of the Blind “Ambasfer”. The employees of the Cahul Representative Office will give lectures on children’s rights at the Secondary School No. 3 “A. Mateevici” and the Secondary School No. 5 “Rahmaninov” in Cahul town and at the Secondary School “Alexandru cel Bun” in Larga Noua village.
The employees of the Representative Office in Varnita, Anenii Noi, in concert with the organization “Asclepio”, will stage activities for children from socially deprived families and will hold a drawing contest centering on children’s rights. Lectures on children’s rights will be given at several lyceums of Balti municipality. On May 28, there will be given a news conference entitled “Observance of the rights of minors in detention”.
On June 1, the director of the Center for Human Rights Anatolie Munteanu, together with the director of the Center “Memoria” Ludmila Popovici, will take part in activities held to celebrate the International Children’s Day at Penitentiary No. 10 in Goian. The same day, members of the organization “Academia Nicolae Dumitrescu” will mount workshops for minors at the penitentiary.
On June 2, there will be staged activities to promote children’s rights and the principle of non-discrimination at the Theoretical Lyceum “Alecu Russo” in Cojusna village.
