The State Weather Service issued a yellow alert for sudden change in weather for April 28 and 29. Torrential rain was forecast for this period. It will rain heavier in the northern and central districts (15-25 l/m2).

Gennady Roșca, head of the State Weather Service’s Forecasts Division, has told IPN that a cyclone coming from northeastern Europe will be crossing Moldova. The weather on April 28 and 29 will be unstable and torrential rain is expected in the period.

The State Weather Service also issued a yellow alert for frost for April 30 – May 1.

Gennady Roșca said the expected ground frost of minus 4°C can endanger the spring crops, primarily vegetable crops. The fruit trees will most probably not be affected as the temperature in the air will be +2-+3°C, down from +5-+8°C that is the normal temperature for the end of April and the start of May.

The warmest day of April 27 was in 2013, when +30°C were recorded in Briceni. The coldest day of April 27 was reported at the Tiraspol weather station in 1948 - minus 5.9°C.
