Any Leanca Government will have fragile support in Parliament and even if the votes needed for the investiture are secured, such a Cabinet will not enjoy much freedom in taking decisons. Now the country needs a powerful Government to implement the Association Agreement so as to reform the justice sector. A weak Government is a sentence, foreign policy expert Lina Grau stated for IPN when asked to anticipate how the future Cabinet will look like.

Lina Grau considers that Iurie Leanca is a powerful politician, but he will have his hands tied in the current political situation. However, if the Government is headed not by Leanca, another person will be a weak figure who will be controlled by the political leaders or even by one politician and Moldova would be managed in a monopolistic way.

The expert is pessimistic about the future of reforms in Moldova. ”There are now no new names in politics and in the government. The young people are being excluded from great politics by the great bussinesses of the country,” she said.

Asked which of the ministers should be kept in the future Cabinet, Lina Grau said there are a number of ministers who did their job, including Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman and Agriculture Minister  Vasile Bumacov. ”I heard that Bumacov is not among the members of the future Cabinet, as Labor Minister Valentina Buliga is not. I do not know who could cope with the portfolio at the Labor Ministry given the current economic and social situation in the country. I regret that Justice Minister Oleg Efrim will also not be in the Cabinet. The justice reform must be continued and he could have done well in this respect,” she stated.

By February 11, the candidate nominated for the premiership Iurie Leanca must ask for the vote of confidence of Parliament for the government program and the Cabinet. He is supported by the PLDM and PDM, which have together 42 seats of MP.  The Government is invested by at least 51 votes of MP of the 101.
