The Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) considers that the 2009 parliamentary elections were incorrect and unequal, the final results being tainted long before the election campaign and rigged on the election day. The AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu told a news conference on April 6 that owing to the political crisis and the Communist government’ incapacity to govern the country, we will have early polls, Info-Prim Neo reports. The AMN says that the use of administrative resources in the election campaign this year was unprecedented. “The senior state officials, who were also the top candidates on the PCRM ticket, misused their official posts, maximally exploited the control over the state institutions and used the public budget and state reserves, including the material aid, for electoral purposes,” Urecheanu said. The party also said that the police and the other law enforcement and security bodies got involved in the election campaign unlimitedly. It accuses the PCRM and its former allies of openly controlling the main media outlets with national coverage. “As regards the election outcome, there were a lot of signs that the elections were rigged on the election day and they will be investigated. We will collect all the contestations and notices from the poling places and will then present our conclusions,” the AMN leader said. According to him, all the party’s actions will be coordinated with the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Liberal Party (PL). “It seems that this time we will have a powerful Opposition that will not make compromises with the Communists. The AMN excludes any cooperation with the PCRM and will not vote for a Communist candidate for president,” Serafim Urecheanu said. Today, the PLDM announced that it will start street protests because it does not agree with the April 5 election results. “On the basis of the proofs collected by the party and after obligatory consulting with the Moldova Noastra Alliance and the Liberal Party, we will fix the date and hour of a wide protest,” the PLDM leader Vlad Filat said at a news conference. According to the preliminary results announced by the Central Election Commission, the PCRM won the elections, polling about 50% of the vote. The PL gained 12.75% of the poll, the PLDM – 12.26%, while the AMN – 9.82%. Under the Constitution, the president of Moldova is elected by the vote of 61 MPs. If the president is not elected by two rounds of voting, the Parliament is dissolved and early polls are announced.
