Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița promises she will do her best, together with the governmental team, to transform the country so that the diaspora wants to return. According to her, the stopping of youth migration and the return home of the diaspora are the best indicator of the Government’s work for the citizens. The statements were made in a virtual meeting of the Premier and participants in the DOR Camp 2021, IPN reports.
Natalia Gavrilița related that she left Moldova first at the age of 16. She won a scholarship to study in the U.S. for a year. She grew a lot and became more independent in that period. She realized then how much she loves Moldova and how important the relations with the family, friends are and she then decided to do something to improve the life of Moldovans.
“Now my dream in relation to you is for you to maintain ties with the country and to return here with pleasure and on a regular basis. I dream of our country having high-quality studies recognized at international level so that you want to come here to learn and of having interesting things that you can do when returning home on vacation or to live. I want to thank you for not forgetting your roots, for continuing to learn and speak in Romanian, for having a connection with Moldova and for carrying a small part of Moldova with you,” Natalia Gavrilița told the young people.
Answering the questions put by the participants in an informal atmosphere, the Premier said she had a happy childhood and took an active part in many activities together with her brother. She practiced sport, dances, sewing, etc. She believes those activities replaced the current gadgets. She was fond of books, literature. She wanted to be an athlete and to compete in international sporting events, but now prefers walking and swimming. When she was a teenager, she realized that she wants to do something for the country to develop.
“The post of Prime Minister is an accomplished dream and I hope to also achieve the aims for which I wanted to obtain this post so as to contribute to improving the life of Moldovans,” she added.
According to Natalia Gavrilița, the professions of the future are those related to IT and also to human interaction, which help the people to manage their life. Her favorite book is “Paula” by Isabel Allende. The book depicts how the family’s destiny is related to the country’s fate. The Premier also said that the successful path to premiership is conditional on curiosity and varied knowledge in different areas.
The DOR program is implemented under the patronage of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, through the agency of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, and is intended for children and young people from the diaspora. The program’s goal is to sensitize the children and young people of the second generation of migrants to the necessity of keeping the cultural, national identity and of establishing emotional ties with the homeland, the Republic of Moldova.
The program until now had seven editions that involved hundreds of Moldovan young people who settled in other countries together with their parents.
