“We will ultimately have a three-party government – either formed by the PLDM, PDM, and PL, as it is logical, or by the PLDM, PDM and PCRM. If a solution with the Liberals is not eventually found, it’s not excluded that an agreement will be reached with the Communists,” political analyst Ion Tabarta stated for IPN when asked to comment on the statements made by the political leaders who are negotiating the formation of a parliamentary majority in the evening of January 12.
According to the Liberal-Democrats and the Democrats, the negotiations reached deadlock because of the PL and consultations should be immediately initiated with the PCRM. On the other hand, the Liberals do not consider that the talks reached an impasse and say that these should be continued.
Ion Tabarta noted it is evident that there are contradictions between the PLDM and PDM, on the one hand, and the PL, on the other hand. Judging by leaders’ statements, the blockage in the talks or the lack of progress in them is due to the PL’s distinct position that probably concerns the post of head of state. The PLDM and PDM want this blockage to be overcome by holding a dialogue with the PCRM and the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat made it clear that these won’t be talks, but just a dialogue.
“The negotiations between the three parties continue, but with no result. The two parties are trying to break the deadlock by involving the Communists in the dialogue. It is evident that Mihai Ghimpu insists on his either objective or subjective position. He considers that his position and the position of the Liberal Party are justified and the blockage wasn’t caused by the Liberals, but rather by the fact that the other partners involved in the negotiations do not want to give the PL what they ask. Mister Ghimpu made an important remark – that the negotiations go on” stated the analyst.
The leaders of the PLDM, PDM and PL announced a new round of talks for January 13, 6pm. The negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary majority were commenced on December 4.
