Moldova’s Ambassador in Bucharest Iurie Renita told the Romanian information portal Inforusia in an interview that Moldova wants to export to Romania as much wine as possible. According to the diplomat, after Russia imposed a ban on the import of Moldovan wine, the authorities started to look for ways to other markets in order to sell the wine, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Ministry of Agriculture of Moldova drew up a government plan according to which a foreign country will be able to import at most 25% of the exported Moldovan wine. The wine for Moldova is a brand, the man exported product that brings considerable benefits to the Moldovan economy,” the ambassador said. Iurie Renita also spoke about the agreement reached by Moldova’s Prime Minister Vlad Filat and representatives of the EU to double the volume of Moldovan wine exported to the EU. “We want to export more wine to Romania. Poland for example is the country that imports the largest quantity of Moldova wine in the EU, while Romania is on the sixth place. We want Romania to climb at least four spots in these rankings,” he said. The ambassador considers the Moldovan companies and authorities should be more insistent on promoting the products so as to convince the Europeans of their good quality.
