The Liberal Party sees the reformation of the Prosecutor General’s Office as a priority for the fall-winter session. PL leader Mihai Ghimpu declared during a press conference that the Prosecutor General’s Office should be an independent demilitarized institution working according to European standards, Info-Prim Neo reports. “When Moldova joined the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe we agreed on the role and place of the Prosecutor’s Office. Since 1995, we have been reforming it. Two steps back are made after each step forward. We’ve left it for 2014, which is unfair. We want to definitively reform the Prosecutor’s Office this fall and give it the chance to work according to European standards”, said Mihai Ghimpu. The PL deems necessary a law that would make the Prosecutor General’s Office an independent institution. “We cannot delay it anymore. It’s a shame. As long as the European institutions are tolerant, we should have shame and not take advantage of this political support”, said Mihai Ghimpu. Among the other priorities for the new parliamentary session, the PL leader named the adoption of a new Constitution, of the Education Code, of the new Broadcasting Code, the amendment of the Electoral Code and the approval of the National Military Strategy. Attending the press conference, Minister of Transports and Road Infrastructure Anatol Salaru stated the Liberals’ priorities also include the rehabilitation of roads. According to him, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is ready to offer €300 million for the rehabilitation of roads. Minister of Environment Gheorghe Salaru told the press that in 2012-2013 a series of laws would be adopted to ensure the protection of environment and to adjust the environment legislation to the EU Conventions.
