“Most of the people in Chisinau have come from villages. This makes them more hardworking. They take care about the place they live in. But I'd like people to involve themselves more. We must prove our love for the city through deeds”, the head of Chisinau's Botanica district Vladimir Guritenco told Info-Prim Neo. Traditionally, each Moldovan settlement has a Patron Saint's Day and it's great that the capital celebrates it annually. The inhabitants of Chisinau are happier. It's a specific and sincere holiday. Despite all the difficulties, mainly financial, this day brings hope, faith and unity among people, says the district head. Vladimir Guritenco stressed that this year the holiday was even more special, as it marked the 575th anniversary of the city. “This proves our capital has a respectable age. Many generations worked for the city to flourish. Chisinau is a park-city. We surpass any other European capital in greenness. The visitors always remark this aspect”, stressed the district head. Vladimir Guritenco added that we had to work more to reach some European standards in order to be proud of a modern and well-developed capital. “Obviously, it depends on which part of Europe you're coming from. Sometimes, after returning from certain regions in Europe, Chisinau seemed a hundred times more developed. But I admit we have to work to meet some standards. The main European factor is related to people's mentality. I'd propose a slogan for future: May the European mentality and spirit of the inhabitants of Chisinau win!”, stated Vladimir Guritenco. The district head said that Chisinau was built by whole generations of people. It is the administrative center of the republic and the heart of its life. “I don't want to understate the importance of other cities, but the capital is the core of the country and it represents us”, he declared. {Vladimir Guritenco has served as district head of Botanica district since 2004. Previously, he worked as senior engineer at the Design Institute “Colhozvinsadproiect”. He also served as Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family, deputy head and then head of Centru district.}
