The series of training seminars “Communicant and social entrepreneurship in the diaspora”, conducted by the head of the Moldovan community in Quebec Ala Mandacanu, came to an end. Ala Mandacanu has told IPN that the participants showed increased interest in such subjects as efficient communication, manipulation in communication, the atmosphere in the diaspora and the messages that come from there.

Ala Mandacanu said she staged such seminars for the first time and it was very interesting for her to share her nine years of Canadian experience. As a former dean of the Faculty of Communication and Journalism of the Moldova Free International University (ULIM) and as a member of Moldova’s Parliament in 1994-2001, she spoke to the participants about the positive energies of the diaspora, which should be used here, at home.

The head of the Moldovan community in Quebec said she reached the conclusion that there are many unused reserves in Moldova. The people should realize that communication is efficient when there is a state of balance, while the verbal violence and aggressiveness cannot produce good results. The seminars focused also on the dynamic development of collectives and identification of leaders for political elites.

The seminars were held within the Diaspora Professional Return subprogram of the Diaspora Engagement Hub Program during June 5-15. The program is implemented by the International Organization for Migration in partnership with the Bureau for Diaspora Relations within the project “Strengthening Moldova’s Migration and Development Institutional Framework” that is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
