Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian reiterated Chisinau's readiness to offer help to the fellow citizens on the left bank of the Nistru. Chisinau is ready to provide food, medicines, fuel, generators, but also to take over serious patients in hospitals on the right bank of the Nistru, where they can be offered better treatment conditions.

In a press conference, the official accused the Transnistrian administration of "showing genocidal attitude and keeping the people in prison." He said that the Moldovan authorities have always been open to ensure the transit of Russian gas to the region, especially in these dramatic conditions for the citizens there, IPN reports.

Oleg Serebrian said that it is regrettable that Tiraspol's chief negotiator for the Transnistrian settlement process Vitaly Igantiev rejects the proposal to have a meeting in the "1+1" format to discuss humanitarian issues.

"Thousands of citizens are left without any substantial support and are used as a human shield for the separatist regime, which serves foreign interests that are foreign also to those who are nothing but cheap instruments in achieving geopolitical objectives," stated Serebrian.

According to the contractual obligations with Moldovagaz, Gazprom has to deliver gas to the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova until September 30, 2026. After the contract for the transit of Russian gas via Ukraine expired, Gazprom was able to honor its contractual obligations using alternative routes, including through the Trans-Balkan corridor. However, on January 1, Gazprom stopped gas supplies to the region, invoking other pretexts than those related to the route, noted Oleg Serebrian.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that after a state of emergency was declared in the region, Chisinau publicly offered to provide support. "Instead of Tiraspol using these offers of Chisinau, we hear the hysterical narrative of some of the representatives of Tiraspol, who convulsively claim: Chisinau does not offer us help. Nobody helps us," stated Serebrian.

The official repeated the call for Tiraspol to accept the help that is so generously provided by Ukraine, which, despite the difficult situation it is in, offered to provide coal. "They should show common sense and give an answer because they don't have the courage to openly reject this help," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

The meeting of the chief negotiators for the Transnistrian settlement process on behalf of Chisinau and Tiraspol was to take place on Friday. Chisinau, which proposed the date of January 17, announced that Tiraspol blocked the meeting in the "1+1" format, its representative refusing to come to Chisinau due to “security dangers". For their part, the Transnistrians accuse the representatives of Chisinau of refusing to meet in Bender.
