An analysis to evaluate the situation at the State Tax Service will be carried out in September on the initiative of the World Bank (WB). It will center on such areas as transparency, assessment of property, strategic development policy, efficiency, services provided for tax payers and performed inspections, IPN reports.

The head of the Main State Tax Inspectorate Ion Prisacaru hopes the analysis and its conclusions will form the basis of a future project to reform the Tax Service that will be supported by the World Bank. “The State Tax Service counts a lot on this analysis, given the covered area and the seriousness of the partner institution,” he stated.

According to Ion Prisacaru, the necessity of reforming the State Tax Service from institutional viewpoint is evident. The current body – the Main State Tax Inspectorate, together with the local tax inspectorates – is neither optimal, nor efficient. The Inspectorate should become a methodological center for planning and organizing strategic activities and monitoring the local tax inspectorates.

It is also considered creating specialized tax inspectorates, centering for example on the forced fulfillment of fiscal obligations or on tax inspections.

The analysis will be made by a WB mission for two weeks.
