The water treatment purification plant of Cahul town, which has a capacity of 17,400 cubic meters of water a day, has been extensively renovated with financing of over 10 million lei provided by the Government of Germany. This is the first intervention to modernize the station since it was put into operation in 1970, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.

The water treatment purification plant in Cahul town treats wastewater collected from the Prut River and supplies drinking water to about 40,000 inhabitants of the town. Director of the South Regional Development Agency Maria Kuleshov underlined the importance of the project that was financed by the Government of Germany through the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), saying the major goal of such projects that are intended directly for the people is to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the southern districts and to ensure the prosperity of the beneficiary communities and the socioeconomic development of the whole district.

The water treatment purification plant of Cahul was renovated within the Improvement of the Water Supply and Sewerage Services in Cahul District Project that is implemented by the GIZ in partnership with the South Regional Development Agency and the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction within the program “Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova”.
