The European Union will provide €5.1 million for rehabilitating and extending the water supply systems in Ungheni and Calarasi districts. The contracts for designing the technical project implementation documents were signed on July 6. The works will start at the beginning of next year, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, following the implementation of the projects, up to 200,000 citizens in over 20 communities in Ungheni and Calarasi will benefit from running water.
The works are carried out within the “Construction of Water Supply and Sewerage and Energy Efficiency Infrastructure in Public Buildings” project. Ten water supply and sewerage systems and eight energy efficiency systems in public buildings will be constructed as part of this by the end of 2020. The project has a budget of about €43 million.
