The residents of Chisinau’s Rascani and Ciocana districts will have running water in several hours. The Chisinau Municipal Council has allocated money to settle the debt of about 15 million lei of SA Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC) to the electric power supplier Union Fenosa. Owing to this debt, the water treatment station that supplies the municipality of Chisinau with drinking water has not worked for several days, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a meeting on Thursday, the Chisinau councilors decided to purchase 130,000 shares from ACC for 100 lei piece. The necessary 13 million lei will allocated by redistributing the money earmarked for capital investment works in the municipal budget for 2009. The rest of the money - about 2 million lei – will be paid by ACC from the resources that will be collected during the next days. The ACC director Constantin Becciev said that Union Fenosa agreed to reconnect the water treatment station to the power supply after the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca issued a letter of guarantee to the company, saying that the debt will be repaid in 10 days. Two days ago, the water treatment station was cut off from the power supply due to the debts accumulated by ACC during about a month. A number of companies, including SA Termocom, SA Moldcarton and the thermoelectric plants CETs, owe hundreds of millions of lei to Apa-Canal Chisinau. As a result, a part of the inhabitants of Rascani and Ciocana districts remained without running water.
