Most probably water supply to Chisinau's residents will not be disrupted, sources within Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC) told Info-Prim Neo Tuesday morning. “I'm 99 percent sure water supply will not be disrupted. We leave one percent to chance. You don't play dice with God”, said Arcadie Rusnac, senior official with the ACC. In his words, the situation at the pumping facilities in Vadul lui Voda town is under control, despite Nistru levels having risen 45 centimeters this night to reach 18.45 meters. This is, however, below the critical point of 22 meters. There is a possibility that in the course of the day another wave will loom to raise the level of the Nistru, but according to official information from Ukraine, water is being drawn off gradually, so the levels are not supposed to get higher than one meter, said Rusnac. “Our Ukrainian colleagues have managed to contain the wave and release overflowing water in stages, so the impact is not likely to be heavy, as Nistru levels haven't surged”, offered Rusnac, adding that even in the event of a flooding at the pumping facilities, water supply in Chisinau would be disrupted for just half a day. According to him, water supply disruptions on Monday had no connection with the situation in Vadul lui Voda. “Water was cut off because of common pipe failures and due to pipe replacement”, Arcadie Rusnac explained.
