Water levels in Nistru and Prut rose slightly overnight

The levels of water in the rivers Nistru and Prut rose overnight, but insignificantly compared to the previous days. Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Service for Civil Protection and Exceptional Situations, told Info-Prim Neo the flood didn’t cause any major damages as people feared. This morning (June 30), the level of the Prut River was 5.45 meters in Criva, while the critical one is 6 meters. The level of water in Costesti-Stanca dam reservoir was 94.48 meters, lower than the 95.8 critical mark. The water discharge reached 600 CBM per second. In the Nistru River, the level of water is 27.5 meters upstream Dubasari, while the safety limit is 29, and 15.79 downstream the dam. The water discharge in Dubasari is 1320 CBM per second. Albeit in Vadul lui Voda, the Nistru River rose with 20cm reaching 15 meters, the level is much lower than the critical one - 18 meters. Protection barrages are being fortified in many villages and towns, with the aid of the Service for Civil Protection and Exceptional Situations and the National Army. Moreover, dams are being strengthened in Grosesti and Barboeni, Nisporeni district, in Caslita-Prut and Giurgiulesti, Cahul district, and in Boscana, Criuleni district.
