Some 60% of the over 1,800 kilometers of water pipes managed by “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) are worn out. Therefore, water leakages are inevitable, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from ACC, 40 leakages on average happen in Chisinau daily. The company’s specialists are grateful to the end-users who inform about accidents as they manage to reduce losses when taking steps swiftly.
However, not all the leakages can be dealt with the same day. As the company has a limited number of employees, some of the more powerful leakages are removed during several days. In case of accidents that cause massive water leakages or floods of buildings, the affected area is disconnected from the water supply immediately. These accidents are fixed first of all.
The repair works on water pipes are usually performed in summer, when the costs incurred are lower. However, the company’s employees have to deal with accidents also in the cold period, when she asphalt cannot be restored. The areas laid out after digging are damaged by frost, water and transport, but ACC supervises them until the warm period, when these portions can be asphalted.
According to “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, during the last few years the company’s specialists managed to decrease water losses by almost 20%.
